the struggle of trying to find a specific genre of music but you don’t know how to describe it. it’s like…unhinged ambience with like backwards noises and old clips of people talking and it’s just sort of psychotic and unsettling alksdjf does someone know what i’m talking about because omfg i had listened to it before like wow this is interesting but now i can’t find anything and ):

I’m listening to exactly that right now. I tend to call it Experimental Ambient, because ‘experimental’ usually means ‘discordant’. Try this, or this mix on 8tracks.

Demo of Beat It composed using only Michael Jackson’s voice

As Jackson couldn’t fluently play any instruments, he would sing and beatbox out how he wanted his songs to sound by himself on tape, layering the vocals, harmonies and rhythm before having instrumentalists come in to complete the songs.

One of his engineers Robmix on how Jackson worked: “One morning MJ came in with a new song he had written overnight. We called in a guitar player, and Michael sang every note of every chord to him. “here’s the first chord first note, second note, third note. Here’s the second chord first note, second note, third note”, etc., etc. We then witnessed him giving the most heartfelt and profound vocal performance, live in the control room through an SM57. He would sing us an entire string arrangement, every part. Steve Porcaro once told me he witnessed MJ doing that with the string section in the room. Had it all in his head, harmony and everything. Not just little eight bar loop ideas. he would actually sing the entire arrangement into a micro-cassette recorder complete with stops and fills.”

Mandala - A Planetary Musical Palindrome by Daniel Starr-Tambor

This is trippy. And simply an amazing feat of creativity. Daniel Starr-Tambor composed this abstract musical composition by assigning each planet(oid) a particular note along the natural harmonic series, ranging from Mercury’s B to Pluto’s C# two octaves up. The notes are played in a pattern corresponding to orbital periods of each planet.

I’ll let his description tell you the rest:

With more than 62 vigintillion individual notes, “Mandala” is the longest palindrome in existence. Composed using the first nine partials of the Natural Harmonic Series repeating at the accelerated tempos of our solar system, Mandala would continue without repetition for over 532.25 septendecillion years. In homage to “Art of the Fugue” by J.S. Bach, “Mandala” has been crafted to include the “musical signature” of it’s author: the stereo imaging is arranged to reflect the exact position of the solar system at the moment of his birth, from the perspective of the Sun as it faces the constellation Libra, so that each note chronicles his birthday on every planet.

Did I mention that this was amazing? Well done, sir. If you aren’t as blown away by this as me, we can’t be friends.

This cover was requested by my little sister. Here is my take on "When She Loved Me" by Sarah McLachlan from Toy Story 2 - aka THE SADDEST SONG OF ALL TIME. Enjoy lovelies. xx

WHEN SHE LOVED ME (from “Toy Story 2”)

When somebody loved me, everything was beautiful
Every hour we spent together, lives within my heart
And when she was sad, I was there to dry her tears
And when she was happy, so was I, when she loved me.

Through the summer and the fall, we had each other, that was all
Just she and I together, like it was meant to be
And when she was lonely, I was there to comfort her
And I knew that she loved me.

So the years went by, I stayed the same
And she began to drift away, I was left alone
Still I waited for the day, when she’d say “I will always love you.”

Lonely and forgotten, never thought she’d look my way,
She smiled at me and held me, just like she used to do,
Like she loved me, when she loved me

When somebody loved me, everything was beautiful,
Every hour we spent together, lives within my heart
When she loved me.

A new original song, again inspired by the brilliant NBC series Hannibal. Music and words by me. Enjoy! xxx

Waltz for Lecter (inspired by “Hannibal”)

please come in.
i won’t bite,
simply whet my appetite
with whatever foods you may bring
from the dark winter garden of night.

what’s that smell?
is it fever?
spreading deeper? butter-hot, red as the
flame-drips that bred the black
sin in the hearts of believers.

you’ll find my crown on the head of a creature
and my name on the lips of the dead
i am speaking of dread and hunger
do you know hunger?
precisely.
it needs to be fed.

please begin.
i won’t interrupt.
drink wine from my cup and eat from my table.
perhaps you are able
to stomach what once was corrupt.

it has a taste:
misbehavior.
no saviors here, just fare to be swallowed,
bones to be hollowed;
for rudeness yields exquisite flavors.

you’ll find my crown on the head of a creature
and my name on the lips of the dead
i am speaking of dread and hunger
do you know hunger?
precisely.
it needs to be fed.

(bridge, variation on the ‘hannibal’ theme)
